Exchange rates in Pinphy are mid-market reference rates from third-party providers. They are shown to help you budget, not to quote what a transaction will cost.

• Banks and card networks apply their own margin to the mid-market rate.
• Foreign transaction fees, ATM fees and dynamic currency conversion add to the cost.
• Cash exchange counters usually offer worse rates than cards.

Rates are refreshed periodically and cached for up to 24 hours, with automatic failover between providers. The timestamp shown next to a rate tells you when it was last updated.

Budget totals, expense splits and settle-up amounts are calculated using the rate at the time of entry. They are estimates for planning between friends, not an accounting record.
